Why Margaritaville Restaurants?

Back in the day, going "To Margaritaville" meant... going to The Margaritaville Cafe'!  It's where it all started back in 1985, when Jimmy Buffett opened his first successful "Margaritaville" store in Key West, Florida.  It actually started as a retail store on the famous Duval Street.  They added great food and started the tradition of enjoying island-inspired food and cool, refreshing drinks with good friends and good music. 

People love coming to a Margaritaville retaurant location because it embodies a relaxed, tropical "vacation state of mind" through its island-inspired food, vibrant atmosphere, and strong association with Jimmy Buffett's music.  It gives people, if even for a moment, a sense of escape and carefree enjoyment, almost like being on a beach holiday regardless of where the restaurant is located; essentially, it's not just about the food, but the overall experience.

This program goes beyond leadership development—it's the only program of it's kind!  It's an opportunity to dive into the world of one of the world's iconic poets, smartest businessmen and musical legends who created the Margaritaville spirit.  You'll also learn about his philanthropy and the difference he made with his celebrity by meeting with some of the people who knew him and worked with him.  

What's a Parrothead you ask?  You'll meet with the local Parrothead Clubs in your location and understand how the "Party for a Purpose" concept lives inside each and every one of our over 200 clubs across the world.

YES! Our program is designed to help you bring your culinary skills to life and build your leadership experience right in the Heart of the House—our kitchens! Whether you aspire to be an executive chef, run a kitchen, or lead a restaurant team, this hands-on experience will set you on the path to culinary leadership.

How Can I Participate?

The minimum requirements are that you:

• are at least 18 years old at the time of the internship (by May 2025)
• are currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a certificate or degree.  Prefer Hospitality, Business, Retail majors and students pursuing Culinary degrees
• have completed at least one semester of college
• has some food and beverage experience
• are able to work at least 35 hours/week (Mid May through Mid August). We will work around your school schedule
• are legally authorized to work in the US on a fulltime, permanent, and ongoing basis without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
• have housing available or currently live near one of these participating locations for the entire summer
